UCAN Members at All Island Cancer summit

A number of our committee travelled to Croke Park this week for the All Island Cancer Summit in association with the All Island Research Institute. This was an important Summit in its first year bringing together industry, health care professionals, research and advocates.
Our chair Miriam Staunton spoke on the urgent need to accelerate the Digital health program. Ireland is currently the only EU member state not to provide eHealth data to citizens despite being one of the most digitally advanced.
Data is key also to drive research and the eHealth-hub for cancer launched their important position paper “harnessing the power of data to transform cancer research, care & innovation across the Island of Ireland”
Access to medications and trials were hot topics with stakeholders across industry, healthcare and patient advocates all in agreement of the need for urgent change
