UCAN Welcomes Two New Team Members, and Two New Cancers to Our Table

UCAN continues to go from strength to strength, and we’re delighted to welcome two new members to our team: Katie O’Neill and Denver Lynn. Between them, they bring lived experience of two cancer types that were not  represented within UCAN, broadening the voices we can bring to patient advocacy, research and policy across the island of Ireland.

Katie O’Neill

Katie is a cancer survivor and patient advocate with lived experience of a rare cancer of the appendix. Her experience of navigating a rare cancer diagnosis, treatment and life beyond cancer has shaped her passion for ensuring that patients’ voices are heard, valued and represented.

With a strong background in oncology nursing, Katie brings both professional and lived experience to her advocacy work. She is particularly passionate about survivorship, quality of life and meaningful patient involvement in cancer care, research and policy.

Katie is delighted to be part of UCAN and to contribute to positive change for people affected by cancer and we are very happy to have her as part of the team.

Denver Lynn

Denver is an advocate for patients with neck cancer, with a particular interest in the HPV virus and its role in this disease area. He is a member of the Northern Cancer Research Consumer Forum, where he contributes the patient voice to research being developed and reviewed north of the border.

Denver is based in Northern Ireland, and his involvement helps bring greater balance to UCAN’s all-island focus, ensuring that the perspectives and priorities of patients across the whole island are represented in our work. We’re happy to have Denver on board to bring this important persepective.

Strength in Numbers, Strength in Voices – Stronger Together
